Lamorinda Water Polo is one of the premier youth water polo clubs in the country, based in Northern California. With over 100 alumni advancing to Division I programs and USA Water Polo Hall of Famer Guy Baker leading as Executive Director and 18U head coach, Lamorinda is recognized as a powerhouse in player development.
As an alumni, I’ve collaborated closely with Guy and the Board of Directors on a range of projects, each requiring a unique creative approach while staying true to the club’s bold and recognizable identity. Below are highlights from our partnership.
Project 1: Barcelona International Academy Trip
For Spring Break 2025, Lamorinda Water Polo took their 16U boys' and girls' teams to Barcelona to train with Olympic-level coaches and compete against top Spanish players in their age group.
I was tasked with designing custom gear for the trip, including hoodies, t-shirts, backpacks, and swimsuits. The challenge was to blend the bold colors of Spain with the Lamorinda brand, creating designs that were both culturally relevant and true to the team's identity.
The final designs were met with high praise from the Lamorinda board, players, and coaches, making the trip even more memorable for the team.

Project 2: Junior Olympics Apparel
The USA Water Polo Junior Olympic Championships is the largest age-group water polo tournament in the nation, bringing together top athletes from across the country to compete at the highest level.
Each summer, Lamorinda Water Polo establishes a unifying theme for all age-group teams that qualify for this prestigious tournament. For the 2024 Junior Olympics, Lamorinda President Dave Cherry reached out to me to design a T-shirt centered around the theme:
“Dream on, dream until your dreams come true.”—a tribute to the legendary Aerosmith.
With athletes ranging from 10U to 18U, I needed to create a design that would resonate across all age groups—boys and girls alike. After multiple revision rounds and final approval from the Board of Directors, the finished product was a huge success, proudly worn by every team on the first day of the tournament.

Project 3: Annual T-Shirt
Every year, Lamorinda Water Polo produces an annual t-shirt for all players and coaches across every age group (10U to 18U).
With over 500 shirts needed, budget constraints heavily limited the design options — only a few screenprint hits were possible.
Reviewing past shirts for reference, I noticed they were all very basic, with little emphasis on style or identity. I wanted to change that. Working within the restrictions, I introduced a bold new element: a wraparound bear logo that added energy and style without complicating production.
While I was initially unsure how it would translate to print, the finished product turned out great. Players, coaches, and parents were all extremely complimentary and excited to finally have a shirt they could wear proudly on the pool deck — clean, stylish, and unmistakably Lamorinda.
